My Ireland Vol 2 has 101 tunes. Each tune in the book matches each recording note for note; I sight read the whole book to record the music. The chords that appear above the stave certainly work for guitar and I've played my accompaniment in a simple, basic format. This book is a collection of tunes, and as such the playing is conservative but, I hope, most instructive and educational. If you do plan to accompany a tune, as distinct from playing the actual tune itself, spend a good deal of time on working out the chord sequence you're going to use. Guessing or “faking it” is merely a showy form of ignorance. A learned and well practiced accompanist is highly regarded amongst tune players. I trust you will learn much from My Ireland Volume 2 (Tony O'Rourke)
You can download a free sample of the book (PDF, 730KB) containing the sheet music and listen to each of these tunes: Buckley's Fancy (MP3, 2.1MB) and Callaghan's 1 (MP3, 2.2MB).
